Servomex has the revolutionary gas analysis solution you need for real-time safety monitoring in combustion applications. Our SERVOTOUGH Laser 3 Plus Combustion analyzer can be configured to measure both carbon monoxide (CO) and methane (CH4) with a single device, providing the detailed data and analysis required for boiler condition monitoring.

Why measure Carbon Monoxide and Methane?

Monitoring CO levels is a key factor in optimizing combustion efficiency. In addition, a fuel-rich environment contains high levels of both CO and CH4. This is a constant risk and potential source of explosion, so has moved CH4 analysis from a largely ignored measurement to make carbon monoxide and methane analysis an essential safety monitoring requirement.

Using carbon monoxide and methane analysis in low-NOx burners

Low-NOx burners are highly effective at reducing unwanted emissions, but run a cooler, larger, more complex flame that is less stable than older burners. This flame instability has led to the need to improve flame-out detection. Changes to the ambient conditions, fuel composition, or pressure regulation can snuff out the flame or alter its profile to become heavily fuel-rich. A carbon monoxide and methane analyzer, measuring across the process, will detect any pockets of methane before it can flood through the process, allowing immediate corrective action.

Why TDL is the ideal solution for carbon monoxide and methane analyzers

Unlike point-measurement techniques, cross-stack Tunable Diode Laser (TDL) gas analyzers take an average measurement across the process. This allows a carbon monoxide and methane analyzer using this sensing technology to pick up any flame-out situation quickly. TDL is highly specific to the compound being measured and, as a light-based measurement with no sample extraction, provides a very fast response to changes in the boiler condition – usually within a few seconds.

Our solution for Carbon Monoxide and Methane gas analysis

Servomex’s SERVOTOUGH Laser 3 Plus Combustion analyzer can be optimized for the fast, accurate, and responsive measurement of CO+CH4. Using non-contact TDL sensing technology, it provides fast-response carbon monoxide and methane gas analysis, giving operators more time to take corrective action if boiler conditions change.
