HSE Manager

Overview of the Opportunity:

We take the health and safety of our employees and the environment in which they work extremely seriously; the HSE Manager will support HSE compliance activities, provide training and support to our employees as well developing standardization across our global business. The suitable candidate will work closely with the Global HSE Manager to drive a step-change in the safety culture across the business, ensuring that all employees are engaged and participative in this hugely important process.

About the Role:

  • Lead ISO 18001, ISO 14001 compliance activities (audits and closure of non-conformities) – specifically the migration activities towards ISO 45001 compliance
  • Key lead in verification of HSE legal compliance
  • Acting as the point of contact for HSE communications with internal stakeholders and external organisations
  • Leading the completion and maintenance of COMAH and DSEAR regulations
  • Supporting the site leadership team in developing the annual HSE plan and ensuring that objectives and targets are monitored monthly
  • Act as HSE competent person, to include development of HSE training material/platform
  • Building relationships at all levels to guide and advise all employees on the behaviours and actions necessary for a strong safety culture
  • Development of existing HSE management system, including move towards an integrated management system
  • Key input into closure of and validation of business continuity plan
  • Support development of existing Global HSE manager in conjunction with the development of a safety culture
  • Auditing policies and procedures to identify shortcomings and implement improvements

About your Talent:

  • Solid experience working within an HSE management role, ideally within manufacturing/process industries
  • Substantial understanding and application of DSEAR and COMAH regulations
  • NEBOSH qualified, with professional membership to IOSH or IIRSM
  • Strong and demonstrable experience of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification and maintaining compliance
  • Lead auditor trained for ISO 14001 and or ISO 45001
  • Experience of developing a tailored HSE management system, including migration to a fully integrated management system
  • Excellent interpersonal and persuasion skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels and drive change in a challenging environment
  • Excellent report writing skills – ensuring complex and critical data is translated into meaningful information
  • A genuine commitment and willingness to be a proactive HSE role model and leader
  • Experience of developing an HSE training platform would be advantageous
  • Train the trainer skills and IEMA membership would also be desirable
  • A degree (or equivalent) in a related subject area would be of great interest
