Applications Engineer

Are you looking for your next challenge? We have a fantastic opportunity for a talented Applications Engineer based out of our technical site in Crowborough, East Sussex.
This position sits within our specialist Industrial, Process and Emissions business unit and reports into the Applications Manager.


Job description:

The Applications role will drive business opportunities and deliver business unit strategy. It will develop applications for Servomex photometric products (NDIR and TDL); resolve customer application issues; technically support front end and post sales; facilitate and deliver expert training; manage customer field trials and demos, and look for opportunities to improve and build revenues with our regional development teams.

About the role:

  •  Integral part of New Product Introduction (NPI) process (V&V testing, ‘fit for purpose’ sign off, etc.)
  • Specialist and focused understanding of products and technologies, including measurement principles
  • Specialist and focused understanding of customer processes (e.g. hydrocarbon processing) and product interactions with said processes
  • Develop new applications for existing products (applications development)
  • Applications specific literature (white papers, applications notes, best practise guides, etc.)
  • Internal and external training/knowledge transfer and preparation of training materials
  • Provide final approval and sign off for production planning of specialist product
  • Support and facilitate FATs and field trials
  • Product specialist aspect of applications enquiries (material compatibility; scientific principles of measurement; specialist knowledge of current issues and pending updates; etc.)
  • Support Regional Applications within the applications enquiry process
  • Support resolution of critical issues

About You:
Essential Skills, Experience and Education:

  • Degree level or equivalent, or higher and proven experience in Chemical Engineering, Physics, Physical Chemistry
  • Proven experience working with gas analysers including IR and TDL and their applications
  • Analysing test data and writing corresponding technical reports
  • Strong analytical and computational skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience of dealing with customers

Desirable Skills, Experience and Education:

  • Capable of installing equipment, analyzers and providing direct support for live customer site demonstrations
  • Knowledge of Matlab and Phyton and writing script in these languages
  • Proven experience working with FTIR
  • Experience in configuring gas analysers (e.g. infrared)

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday (Flexible start & finish times)
