Project Manager

Name: Gbenga

Job Title: Project Manager

What attracted you to Servomex?

I noticed Servomex when I was looking through the names of top R&D companies fairly local to me. In the span of just a few minutes I picked up on what Servomex is all about when I read an FT article that described the skill of an employee as that “midway between a Venetian glassblower and a Swiss watchmaker to fashion a tiny sphere at the end of a thin tube” in producing a product. This impressed me and really caught my eye. I wanted to be a part of that innovation. Not only that, but also the way they treat their employees - fostering an atmosphere of employee togetherness, corporate responsibility and maintaining a work-life balance!

What is your favourite thing about your role?

I love when a plan comes together! There’s nothing as delighting as orchestrating a group of professionals into becoming a team and collaboratively work with them to produce something great that yields subsequent positive results.

The best part of my job as a Project Manager is knowing that I oversee the successful completion of a project from idea to reality despite being confronted with constant classic business problems of cost and resource limitations.

What is a typical day for you?

Usually, I try to run development stand-ups, followed by an uninterrupted “quiet time” to assess to-dos and track projects. Then I attend pre-arranged meetings where business objectives are clarified, project development risks and opportunities are resolved, and I close the day by tidying up loose ends, answer emails and adjust project schedules; basically, clean up notes from prior meetings and plan for the next day.

There is not a typical day for me as every day is unpredictable due to many things going on. One minute I might be interfacing with a customer, and the next, I might be in a meeting with a Research Scientist or even in an email exchange with a Director. My work involves communication across the all realms.
