Technical Sourcing Lead - Crowborough, East Sussex, UK

The Technical Sourcing Lead will support the Sourcing functions of the site by processing validation work, production trials, running projects and being involved in sourcing opportunities with suppliers and customers. Act as the main lead in technical sourcing projects within the company and focus resource in the right areas. 

Key Responsibilities will be:

  • Be involved in the negotiation, sourcing and obtaining of materials, equipment, and services.
  • Be the technical site lead for sourcing projects and the bridge between the Engineering function, Purchasing and Suppliers.
  • Work with the relevant Engineering Design Authority to ensure any material changes are completed in line with product specifications and requirements.
  • Work with Engineering Compliance team to ensure any material changes are completed in line with required product certifications.
  • Identify, produce and maintain a rolling 3 year plan (products, trials, validation) for moving source of materials, where possible to Spectris Opco or Spectris approved companies, or drive down cost (source and storage) whilst maintaining quality and delivery performance.
  • Be involved in all new product introductions at an early stage and drive inventory changes with focus on achieving sourcing goals.
  • Work with purchasing team in identifying sourcing opportunities within the boundaries of technical and quality requirements.
  • Testing of samples from suppliers and management of production trials as appropriate.
  • To establish and maintain external supplier relationships.
  • To ensure that all activities are performed in compliance with the Company’s quality policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and develop control procedures and processes within the control of the role as required.
  • To provide input to the annual budgetary process as required.

Candidate Specification:

  • Should have had some experience of process production activities, electrical and mechanical processes. 
  • Experience of purchasing activities, negotiations and contracts 
  • Experience in preparing and running production trials.
  • Ability to interrogate and understand technical drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated use of COSHH & risk assessment.
  • Proven prioritisation skills and MS office skills.
  • Experience in using MRP/ERP systems.
