Servomex, the world leader in gas analysis, has a super opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Industrial Process and Emissions (IP&E) division.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering of IP&E, the successful candidate will play a key role in establishing and updating production line(s), including development of appropriate jigs and fixtures. Our Manufacturing Engineers understand the full lifecycle – from design to manufacture of our products and strive to continually improve the output of our assembly and production lines. Job description:

About the Opportunity:

  • Maintaining a safe and healthy working environment whilst working closely with Manufacturing to establish lean production lines
  • Provide training to production staff on the use of jigs and fixtures and support their ongoing operation
  • Working with Engineering to ensure product designs are manufacturable
  • Work with Project Teams to develop and deliver manufacturing plans for NPI
  • Understanding the intricacies of high complexity, high value, low volume manufacturing
  • Working with project teams to develop and deliver manufacturing plans including design and documentation of the build process, production assembly instructions, training materials and measures to support OOE calculations and issue prediction/resolution
  • Ability to ‘fault find’ test equipment to component level
  • Use value stream mapping (VSM) to optimise manufacturing/production processes
  • Maintain existing quality and technical standards and processes whilst supporting continuous improvement of precision/intricate assembly lines
  • Develop production line standard operating procedure (SOPs) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
  • Perform risk assessment/hazard analysis activities
  • Design and implement issue detection and prevention by applied root cause analysis to reduce and eliminate recurring sources of quality issues
  • Managing suppliers and sub-contractors for the design and build of test jigs/fixtures including commissioning of test equipment
  • Actively contribute to a supportive, ethical work environment

About Your Talent:

Essential Skills, Experience and Education:

  • Good Communication skills, combined with the ability to plan workload and deliver on time
  • Excellent attention to detail, combined with the confidence to work with minimal supervision
  • A successful track record of working as a manufacturing/production engineer (or closely related role) – understanding the full life cycle from design to manufacture
  • Related experience of improving the output of precision/intricate assembly lines
  • Demonstrable experience in process improvement and new product introduction/development (high value/complexity, low/medium volume)
  • Solid grounding in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering
  • Design for Manufacture
  • PFMEAs
  • The ability to interpret and communicate complex data/information into meaningful terms for other teams such as engineers and assembly technicians
  • Experience and knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques and implementing lean projects
  • Practical knowledge and experience with test equipment design and control software
  • Relevant technical knowledge and analytical skills from within a similar sector/discipline
  • Degree or HND (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline

Desirable Qualities:

  • Previous experience working with Gases
  • Demonstrable experience of working with PLCs
  • LabVIEW programming
  • Familiar Working with Lasers and laser safety issues
  • Knowledge and expertise of PFMEA and establishment and maintenance of TPMs
  • Previous experience working with optics, micro-engineering, micro-components, surface-mount technology, cell-based manufacturing
  • Experience of debugging and fault-finding techniques
  • Working Knowledge of Machinery Directive
  • Experience with circuit simulation packages
  • Knowledge and expertise of PFMEA and establishment and maintenance of TPMs
  • AutoCAD/SolidWorks

Location: Crowborough, East Sussex

Role: Permanent, full time – 38 hours per week
