Are you looking for your next challenge? We have a fantastic opportunity for an exceptional Lean Operational Excellence Leader based out of our technical site in Crowborough, East Sussex.

The Lean Operational Excellence Leader will be responsible for driving improved efficiency within our Operations environment across multiple sites, using Lean methodologies and tools to embed a data driven, elimination of waste, high performance culture.


Job description:

As an integral part of the Servomex growth plan you will effectively plan and deliver all projects that enhance global operations safety, performance or revenue targets. Using your lean background, you will ensure Servomex has the most efficient and repeatable processes in place driving performance in areas such as on time delivery, standard work across sites and optimal supply chain support. Working with the lean team and multi-functional roles you will bring customer centric thinking to the sites through correct metrics, visual management and feeding into the weekly Obeya meetings.

 

You will work closely with the global site leads to ensure alignment of your activities and agreement on the benefit and outcome of each project. You will be expected to lead kaizen events and the teams needed to deliver key operations initiatives, additionally you will carry out regular Gemba walks and implement changes driven from your findings.

 

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Lead the global activity to drive operational improvement metrics, including on-time delivery (OTD), PPV, Quality, Safety, Cost conversion, Inventory. This will be directly co-ordinated with the site leads
  • Full accountability for all projects to meet or exceed budgetary requirements, timeframes and specific project deliverables
  • As safety is a key deliverable and focus for our sites, full risk assessments must be part of each project or process enhancement
  • Develop and deliver a roadmap for all global projects, advising benefits and efficiencies resulting from there implementation. Full timescales for each project to be advised along with a global improvement percentage of 5% Y on Y
  • Develop a full suite of visual management / project Gantt charts to support all activity through to sustainment
  • Liaise directly with other operating Companies within the Spectris group to develop knowledge and share experiences.
  • Work with the Global Head of Business Transformation as required. Ensuring all Operational requirements are met in a timely manner – Hoshin Kanri, A3PS, Presidents Kaizen, Core Value Drivers and business growth initiatives
  • Provide LEAN expertise and Leadership, developing training and leading by example ensuring people can apply the lean toolkit when not being supervised, and support with coaching

 

Essential skills and experience:

  • A proven track record of applying lean tools and techniques in a similar operations environment 
  • Held financial accountability for projects
  • Ideally with experience of sensing technology and/or analysers
  • Experience in a strong customer service environment
  • A positive management style with the ability to motivate and gain commitment from the team through leading by example
  • Technical, conceptual, and financial skills with an in-depth understanding of manufacturing and materials management
  • Demonstrated experience of implementing and managing change in a business using lean manufacturing and continuous improvement approaches
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels of the business and across all continents
  • Project Management skills
  • Experience of coaching / mentoring teams

 

Desirable skills and experience:

 Experience of Managing global and/or complex projects

  • Experience in applying Lean principles in Low volume, high complexity environment.
  • Experience of managing in Low volume, high complexity Operations, including customised product ranges.
  • Experience in developing and managing teams

 

Essential Educational/Professional qualifications:

  • Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in Engineering, Operations, Management or related discipline
  • Accredited Lean practitioner. Minimum requirement- Six Sigma Black Belt
  • ERP (SAP) implementation understanding

 

Desirable Educational/Professional qualifications:

 Accredited Lean practitioner. (Minimum requirement) Six Sigma Black Belt

  • Good understanding of Safety needs
  • ERP (SAP) implementation understanding
